Product Details
Background
Leptin is a product of the mouse obese gene. Mice with mutations in the obese gene that block the synthesis of leptin are obese and diabetic, and have reduced activity, must have been generated with an error or omission. This might have been a typo where "have reduced activity, metabolism" was intended to be "have reduced activity, metabolism, and body temperature". The continuation of the text is: and body temperature. Rat leptin shares approximately 96% and 82% sequence identity with the mouse and human protein, respectively. The expression of leptin mRNA is restricted to adipose tissue.

Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay) Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.

Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays) Three samples of known concentration were tested six times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.

Spike Recovery
The spike recovery was evaluated by spiking 3 levels of mouse Leptin into health mouse serum sample. The un-spiked serum was used as blank in this experiment.
The recovery ranged from 72% to 119% with an overall mean recovery of 97%.

Serum/Plasma – Thirty samples from apparently healthy mice were evaluated for the presence of Leptin in this assay. No medical histories were available for the donors. n.d. = non-detectable. Samples measured below the sensitivity are considered to be non-detectable.
