Background
Human Activation-induced TNFR member Ligand/TNFSF18, also named as AITRL, is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family and it is encoded by the TNFSF18 gene. This cytokine is a ligand for receptor TNFRSF18/AITR/GITR. It has been shown to modulate T lymphocyte survival in peripheral tissues. It is also found to be expressed in endothelial cells, and is thought to be important for interaction between T lymphocytes and endothelial cells. human AITRL/TNFSF18 shares 56% and 60% AA sequence identity with murine and rat TNFSF18, respectively. Recombinant human TNFSF18 is a 14.3kDa protein, containing 126 amino acid residues.
