Background
Fibroblast growth factor 10, also known as Keratinocyte Growth Factor-2 belongs to the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family which is involved in a variety of biological processes such as embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. Like most other FGF family members, FGF-10 is a heparin-binding growth factor that belongs to the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role during prenatal development, postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF-10 is most related to KGF/FGF-7, and is expressed during the development and, preferentially, in adult lungs. It signals through FGFR 2b. Mature human FGF-10 is an approximately 20kDa protein that contains a serine-rich region near its N-terminus. It shares 93% and 96% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat FGF-10, respectively. Recombinant Human FGF-10 is a 19.1kDa protein consisting of 169 amino acid.
